About the Artist
From singing in church with her dad to playing international stages, Scout Gillett has built a career from her passion for performing. A self-taught musician and vinyl collector, her music combines Midwest grit with creative authenticity.
Growing up in Independence, Missouri, she was immersed in a creative family. She majored in Music Technology but left college in 2016 to pursue music. In 2017, she moved to Brooklyn, encouraged by Sharon Van Etten, and dove into the DIY scene, forming the band Shadow Year and founding Road Dog Booking.
In April 2022, she released her solo EP one to ten, followed by her debut full-length EP no roof no floor in the fall. Less than six months after the release of one to ten came her debut full-length EP, no roof no floor, issued by indie record label Captured Tracks. The album received praise from Rolling Stone, The Fader, Brooklyn Vegan, Paste, and Brooklyn Magazine, which listed it as one of its top 8 albums of the year.
